Dr. Van Ness attended Iowa State University then received his doctorate of chiropractic in 1997 from Palmer College of Chiropractic. Dr. Van Ness has a passion for learning new techniques and has pursued thousands of hours of continuing education to stay current with research and new technology.
Dr. Van Ness specializes in the Gonstead Method of Chiropractic and is Full Body Certified in Active Release Techniques, both considered the "gold standard" for their record of safety and effectiveness. Dr. Van Ness is well versed in the more than 500 specific soft tissue treatment protocols that are unique to Active Release and custom designs a unique approach to each individual patient. Dr. Van Ness is a post-graduate Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician through Palmer College of Chiropractic. Dr. Van Ness is also certified in chiropractic pediatrics, Mally Extremity Protocols, Gait Training, Functional Movement and is a member of the Ironman Provider Network.
In his 18 years of practice in Barrington, Dr. Van Ness feels very privileged to have cared for thousands of families for almost every healthcare condition imaginable. He is continually amazed at the wonderful healing powers that natural chiropractic care can provide and has received countless patient testimonials to this effect.
Dr. Van Ness is married to Leanna, a critical care nurse at Good Shepherd Hospital, and has four children, all having been adjusted since birth. Dr. Van Ness is active in the Barrington Chamber of Commerce, local charities, is a member of the Illinois Chiropractic Society and the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians Concussion Registry. He has been the team chiropractor for Barrington Redwings Hockey, Chicago Force Hockey and Chicago Hitmen Hockey. Dr. Van Ness donates his time to area charities including the Barrington Relay for Life and Shriners Hospital.

Dr. Van Ness has an integrated approach to spine and extremity injuries. He has a team of doctors and licensed massage therapists that are specially trained to complement his work. Myofascial Release can be beneficial in improving flexibility, range of motion and removing chronic scar tissue that can impair healing. Rehabilitation helps to improve core stability, reduce soft tissue strain and promote balance in the spine and extremities.
Dr. Van Ness is married to Leanna and has four young children, all having been adjusted since birth.
